I got lucky and chose B), but I can't pin down why I chose it over C. They seem so similar, and I was especially tempted because C seems to more closely follow the argument's conclusion--"if bacteria are extremely diverse" seemed close but not close enough to "since bacteria are extremely diverse."
What's the essential difference between B and C?

"IF bacteria..." (IF implies that bacteria may or many not be diverse).Cicero76 wrote:I got lucky and chose B), but I can't pin down why I chose it over C. However, the premise doesn't question whether or not bacteria is diverse. It treats as fact that it is diverse ("bacteria are extremely diverse")
ETA: Also, (B) switches the necessary (SINCE bacteria) for the sufficient (IF bacteria). IF statements introduce the sufficient, SINCE, the necessary.
