Edit your post ASAP. Don't think we can quote questions with answer choices on here. Will try and follow up with why A is the best choice....

First, you'll want to be careful about posting full test questions. Simply refer to the PT/Sec?Q #, and that will be sufficient.

Second, we're trying to strengthen the claim that there needs to be a general reduction in the pace of bringing new drugs to the marketplace, but, before we can introduce these drugs, we should have a good understanding of its social impact. The social impact of the new antihistamine is not clear. Answer choice A strenghtens the conclusion by saying that we actually understand this new anithistamine better than most of the new drugs being tested, and the social impact of the anithistamine is far from clear, which means we know much less about the drugs currently being tested. Therefore, a a slowdown in the pace of bringing these new drugs to market is warranted.

In answer choice D, we don't necessarily care about the similarities between the drugs, since it doesn't address why there should be a slowdown in the pace of bringing these new drugs to the market.
