I recently found out that there was a three test limit. Right now I am at : cancel/164/171. I want to retake to get a few more points so I don't have to worry about NYU. Does a cancelled score count against my 3 test in 2 years limit?

You can answer this one. Did you take the test before canceling it?

Looks like cancelled scores count:
"You may not take the LSAT more than three times in any two-year period. This policy applies even if you cancel your score or if your score is not otherwise reported. LSAC reserves the right to cancel your registration, rescind your admission ticket, or take any other steps necessary to enforce this policy."

Good luck with NYU! 171 is pretty sweet.

Based on your numbers (171/3.5), NYU is uncertain. Would you consider EDing to Virginia, Penn and/or Michigan ?

I think I'm going to ED Penn.
