So my writing sample from June is decent, but the handwriting looks like it was written by a two year old. Will lawl schools penalize me for this? Especially if they cannot make out some words?

Honestly it seems like they just glance at it to make sure you know English and it's not a wildly different quality than your PS. I think they understand that you're writing it in half an hour at the end of a stressful 4 hour test. I wouldn't worry about it, esp. cos you can't do anything about it now.

The writing sample from mine was about a child whose last name was Wang. His parents were also involved in the hypo. I referred to him as "the little Wang." I don't think your handwriting will matter.

Did anyone get the family vacation? Haha, one of the options was clearly better than the other.

Doesn't matter at all. Do not worry about this.

I got the family vacation essay, was nearly impossible to write creatively about planning a family vacation.

My handwriting is scary bad. Still got into all the schools my numbers would predict. Thank god for computer-based examinations in law school.

I wrote that taking their children through the international terminal at the airport would be by far their most culturally enriching experience.

I can't imagine any scenario in which a school would have to read these in order to determine an acceptance/denial. Unless your PS just reeks of something fishy, these probably never see the light of day.

As long as it doesn't look like the handwriting of a 2-year-old serial killer, you're probably fine.

What would this look like? All the d's and b's are switched, the e's are upside down and it's written in your own blood?

I'm going to go on record stating that if a 2 year old can write, they'll probably end up being a serial killer.

I thought this thread was about the legibility of a writing sample for an OCI interview. I was like "fuck yes it has to be legible!" good times.

Gripping is one thing, but knowing where to strike is another. How does a baby know where the jugular is?

I had a similar problem on the LSAT. My handwriting was godawful. It didn't affect my chances.

That said, you are going to need to sign your name on documents, and are going to have to fill in forms from time to time. While most of us on this site are the product of the digital age, our bosses are not. I'd recommend spending some time to improve your handwriting. Try this book:

It took me about two or three weeks before I got to legibility, and I'm still working on my signature, but it was well worth the effort I put in. I'm not ashamed of writing checks anymore, and it just helps with my self-esteem. I suspect it'll help in a small way around offices as well, much like tying your tie properly or brushing your hair.
