In need of a motivation -- studying so slow!

Hi TLS,

Is it normal to get this frustrated with LSAT prep? Taking the exam in October, aiming for 170+, but I'm currently sitting at 155-157 for the last three PTs. I'm so frustrated and discouraged... is 170+ feasible by October?

Make sure you're studying smart and not just studying hard, but sure, it's possible. Get the bibles, Manhattan's RC guide, and drill baby drill.

Hell yeah it's normal to get frustrated with this damn test but luckily you still have time to make big gains all the way to your target score. You still have 13 weeks, you're golden as long as you keep to your schedule and don't allow yourself to be distracted. LSAT has to be priority number 1 in your life the next 13 weeks and your schedule is your best friend.

haha, you guys are hilarious!
am i aiming too high? I don't even know how I managed to do well in school. I feel like the 4 years of undergrad was so meaningless and now i'm getting a reality check.

1. Get on board with an online/real-world group discussion for LSAT

2. Be skeptical about your current way of life and think about how much you want this damn thing.

3. Find a rocky bottom to hit.

4. Have someone else that is important to you (whose opinion you value highly) tell you that you need to start sacking up and are just bumming around.

5. Think about an instance where: You were about to approach one of your hardest finals in undergrad, and how unprepared you may have felt or how much more you felt as though you could have studied. Remember what it was like when you didn't have more time and really wished you had it.

Note: Of course these are merely suggestions, and no offense is intended.

Note 2: These are not by any means intended to be a list of steps. An item could be picked in any order you wish. You also don't have to listen, but what is there to be learned from ignoring some easy to follow suggestions?

What are you doing besides prep test? Doing just PTs alone won't (and shouldn't) do much more than help build your endurance. I'm sort of a beginner as well but so far, what has worked for me and helped me build up some confidence (I started in the 150s as well and I'm up to the mid to high 160s a few weeks in) is to take it section by section, or even part by part, to get a feel for the questions and the time you should be spending on each group of questions.

I'd also say find which section you think is most fun (if you can think any of them are fun) or that you WANT to study, and study that heavily first. That may help you get motivated once you start seeing improvement which will lead to more comfort when doing less fun sections. For me that meant taking up a few suggestions I read here (doing 15 LRs in 15 minutes, doing the last ~10 in the remaining time) which let me build up to doing fully timed sections with no problem. Later I plan to practice building endurance but I think it's more important to work on knowing what you're doing first.

When you feel burnt out, resist the urge to keep going and take a break. Look at glossy pictures of your reach school for motivation and do something engaging to get your mind off of it (don't just go see a movie, do something that involves activity). Make sure that you are spending a lot of time reviewing over your mistakes, figuring out why you made those mistakes, and reviewing in your bibles or manhattan or whatever how not to make said mistake.
Also practicing endurance is a little overrated, at least for me. Get a grasp of things before you try to build endurance. You still have time to pace yourself. Do that, and you won't burn out.

you clearly need to center yourself by spending ~2.75 minutes in the cleavage or gif thread
