141 Diagnostic, 3 months to study...

Hi All!

I originally had intended to take the LSAT Oct 2011 but with my senior year in college and everything going on, I thought I would rather wait and score really well (or as best as I can) than rush into it and regret my score.

With that being said, I'm taking the LSAT this October 6 at 8:30 a.m. I took my first diagnostic of the summer last week and got a disappointing 141. When I had been studying a year ago, I had gotten up to the 152 range.

My ideal score is 160 on test day and I really want to get into the law schools in my area. Do you think its possible for me to raise that high before test day? I've been studying everyday for at least a couple hours.

Right now I"m using the PS LGB and LRB and I start an online course with TestMasters on June 28 since I can't take the classroom one because it conflicts with my summer school schedule.

Any tips/advice/suggestions on how to study smarter, what to change and if any of you were in my situation and bumped up to the 160+ range how did you do it and what would you recommend?

Thank you so much!

160 is not that hard, it is definitely possible with 3 month study if you put time into it

Definitely some question type specific drilling. Cambridge LSAT and Kaplan Mastery Practice have books that achieving this easier. I have access to some scans that may prove to be helpful-- PM me if interested.

It is definitely possible. I don't even understand English that well.
My tips... 1. Study a lot.
2. Know when you need a break. In my case I knew I needed one because after scoring 160+ on a test I would go down to 152 on the next test.
3. Don't fall for the temptation of procrastination.
4. Build a good base knowledge of everything on the test while maybe doing 1 test every week or so full with 5 sections. After you feel you have covered everything start doing prep test from the late 1990 to the recent ones while revising and studying what you got wrong on each test or what took you too much time to solve. This is where you will improve slowly but steady as your are doing the hardest questions on the test.
5. Schedule everything so the last few recent tests are close to the date of the real test.
6. Never take tests back to back.
7. Always take at least one day a week off studying.
8. Exercise and eat well.
9. Enjoy studying!

Wow, thank you so much. That is great advice! I've been focusing on the PS Logical Reasoning Bible right now to build up knowledge on how to address the questions in a smarter manner.

I will definitely take all that into consideration. :)
