PTing either in the high 170s (177, 179) or the mid 160s (164, 166). Nailed only one in the middle-ish (170).


Has anyone else encountered this problem? What was your weakness? What was holding you up?


Honestly, I can't seem to figure out what it is for me. Sometimes I'm on...and sometimes I'm off (or sometimes the exam is more difficult and sometimes, less difficult?). I do have to work a bit on stamina but that's an issue I deal with across PTs.

Thoughts appreciated! Want to see how you all dealt!

Yeah, I once scored a 161 o.o

I think it was nerves/distractions/just not paying enough attention.

Just focus on your training, remember the steps, and don't get cocky. That is what happened to me, I thought I was invincible so I didn't take my time.

Maybe there's a certain type of question that you keep missing on tests, and some tests just have more of that type of question.

You need to figure out where your problem area is.

Have you taken the time to just sit and take untimed sections of the LSAT? Like, just take a section of logic games. Sit down. Do it. See how your comprehension was. Then over the next couple of days do this for LR and RC. If you miss ANY during this process, it means there is something off with your comprehension. Once you know what that is, drill, drill, and drill some more.

THEN work your way into timed sections and the full LSAT prep-test.

This is exactly my problem. I started out at 165 (prep 64) and stayed at 164-168 for the next five preps (randomly chosen). I moved up to low 170s on a bunch of 50s and 10s, then got 175 on prep 50 and 177 on prep 49. Then I collapsed down to 166 and 165. I guess it has to do with my concentration level, for I make easy/stupid mistakes earlier in the section (in the early 10s). I started seriously starting about a month and a half ago and I study only 2-3 days at a rather inconsistent interval.

I'm generally good at LG (unless i misread) and RC(unless medical/bio-related articles attack me), and mistakes usually happen in LC. I work and thus study only every other/three days at night and on weekend, and I am worried if my lack of energy (stress stemming therefrom) is taking a toll on me.


Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I really need to nail the test in Oct.

IMO, you need to stop taking full-length tests and spend more time drilling RC passages untimed until you are consistently missing 0. All of the answers to the RC questions are in the passage. You need to figure out a method that works best for you so that you can find those answers consistently.

Continuing to take full-length tests when you aren't focusing on your problem area is like playing a bunch of basketball games but never fixing the fact that your shooting sucks.

I've just realized that I wrote RC instead of LC (the main area of mistakes)

I guess I feel pressured that I only have a very limited time to prepare for the coming LSAT given my work schedule, and I presumed the best way of making the most out of it is to take as many preps as possible.

I haven't actually finished the Bibles - just skimmed through them to catch some shortcuts, rules, etc., because i didnt want to waste time (well, that was what I thought). I guess I should start with them, and very thoroughly at that.

Yeah, do the Bibles and you have to drill the sections so that you can understand what types of questions give you trouble. Spend time on the fundamental components of the test before you go into the full-length test.
