If you retake do you HAVE to send the 2nd score?

I feel silly for asking this because I've been here for a while, but let's say you get a 168 in June and you want to apply to certain schools with that score but you figure you need a better score to get even better schools.
What if you send apps with only the 168 in early September and then you retake in October somehow get a 164 or something and you decide not to let the schools you already applied to know about that score. Is that OK? Will they even find out?
OK maybe I didn't word this the right way. I mean is an additional report sent by LSAC to the schools you already applied to including that new score?
