How did you conquer logic games?

I am having significant difficulties in doing LG in timed conditions (I will maybe get 5-6 right on weird games/ 12-14 right with basic linear grouping games).
I was wondering what is a good studying strategy on improving on LG? I noticed with RC/LR the main problem that addressed most of my problem is just actively read the passage/stimulus and try to pre-phrase, which I have gotten a decent handle at. But I just feel hopeless, having no idea on how to approach LG sometimes. What should I do?

Pick up some of those logic puzzle magazines from Walmart or the dollar store. I never did any other LG prep.

Ugh, those are the worst. I do those for fun on plane trips and whatnot because I loved the LG section so much, and they are just not written nearly as crisply as the logic games on the LSAT.
But if you can do the ones at the back of the book (they get harder as it goes on), misleading language and all, the LG section won't give you any problems.

The LGB and drilling by game type. I might miss 2 on a bad day in the whole section now

thanks for the replies so far
And yes I have read the LG bible, I mean, I can do these puzzles NP untimed (maybe -4~ average)
And can you be more specific with the puzzle book at walmart?

do you suggest I get the bible where it separated the games by type and go through those?

Just these things:
They're like $2 in the books and magazines section. I'd done those for years as a kid and when I took my diagnostic I didn't miss a single question on LG.

hmm. I am thinking of buying them, and some puzzles on amazon. Does anyone else think this is a good idea?

To be clear, I'm not saying don't use other methods of studying, just that these can help too.

O absolutely, I was just thinking of doing them in the hour right after I wake up as a brain warmer or some sort. However I been advise against using "non-official" lsat games as they are counter productive from what I been told.

Make photocopies and drill, baby, drill.
I re-did 40 or so sections maybe 5 times. Went -1 on the real thing, whereas I started not being able to finish all of them and missing 2-4 per game.
Also, LG bible is credited.

I'm having more success this go around by photocopying every available game and going through all of them, then revisiting them later on for more insight.
LG seems to be all about repetition.

My big jump was when I understood that every step you take in an LG is not "wasted time", it directly corresponds to an answer choice later on. So make those deductions.

okay thanks guys, I will buy the powerscore organized by game type bible and just bring them everywhere with me. Good to hear some people went from -3 per game to -1 on the real thing. I hope to do the same.
I assume this will be different from LR/RC as that you can experience burnout effect, but with logical games this is unlikely?

For me, burnout wasn't by section but by the test itself. This actually affected me on logic games the most.
I was hitting 100% on logic games pretty consistently, but when I took too many prep tests this was the section that got hit the hardest. Why? Because game set-up is so freaking important. There are a lot of connections you need to make to have success in the game (or, there are a lot of connections that if made can save tons of time). Additionally, one wrong letter in a diagram and the game will destroy your score.
When you burn out, you lose focus and you begin to miss connections like these that usually just "click." But instead of making the mistake on an LR question and starting fresh with the next one, there's only four logic games so it hit me harder.
My advice to you is to think of them as a game, like solitaire, sudoku, wordsearches, etc. If you look at them as work it's much easier to burn out. Additionally, if you feel a loss of focus, take a break. There's no reason to get frustrated and take another test--it's not going to end up better.
Burnout was one of my biggest problems on the LSAT. Yet, it's pretty easy to overcome. Make sure you take a day off in a week and have hobbies and a life outside of the test. This is a skills-based test. If you're making mistakes you usually don't make (the ones where you just hit your head and make a Homer Simpson "doh!"), it's really hard to learn from those. Make sure you're not being inefficient by pushing yourself too hard, sometimes the best use of your time is to not study so your brain can take a well-deserved break.
Hope this helps!

One thing I'll add is that you really have to trust the method of diagramming, setting up the rules, and finding the inferences. When I first started them I couldn't see how you would possibly have time for that, but you eventually see that when you draw the right inferences, often times the games falls apart for you and you answer the questions rapidly. I started out missing 8-10 and went -2 on test day. Oh, and I used the LG Bible.

Most people on TLS stand by the Logic Games Bible, but I'm actually more of a fan of the Atlas Logic Games book. I did the Logic Games Bible and while I definitely carried some of that knowledge over to Atlas when I switched, I think Atlas does a better job of prepping you to set up basic frames and then allows for more flexibility with minor differences in each set up. After I had only done the LGB and took practice LSATs I would freak out and freeze up when I encountered games that I couldn't fit into one of the molds I had learned from the LGB. After Atlas, though, I was able to work through any game tossed at me and felt more comfortable and confident. Again, the LGB prep before Atlas could have helped me, but I went from missing about 5-7 with no time left (after just LGB) to 0-2 with a couple minutes remaining.

I feel exactly sameway, I think I will buy the atlas LG book. Thanks.

Yeah, while you're at it - if you're having trouble with the Reading Comprehension, check out the word jumble in the paper.

Learn how to approach each game type. Take your time until you understand the approaches. And then...
