Taking the LSAT a year before graduating

Would it make sense to take the LSAT this October if I wouldn't be applying until the fall of my senior year (2013)? I decided that this would be the best time for me to study, given I'll have the whole summer to do so. I just ordered the LG Bible and the LR Bible along with a bunch of PTs, and I'm planning on following a lot of the advice that I've read about on here in regards to studying. I took a timed diagnostic earlier this year and got a 163, so I think that if I start now I will be well prepared to take the October test. Personally I really want to take it this year because if I do really well I can just relax for a year and concentrate on my GPA, currently a 3.7. I'm just not sure if taking the LSAT this early poses any sort of problems, such as getting merit-based fee waivers for the following cycle or something else. Thanks!
