I made a 15-point jump from first PT to actual test date with 2-3 months of studying. It's doable, if you put in the work.

It's definitely possible! The LSAT is a very learnable test, just study hard!

Count on a 5-point drop from your average of seven best test (and recent) scores. If your seven highest recent scores average out to 164, your score on the real thing will hover at somewhere between 157-161, the score band of a 159. To score a 165 on the real deal, you need to practice consistently at 170 or so. As a rule, to reach your target score you need to practice consistently at five or more points above the target.taboo wrote:Original diagnostic in October: 148

If you can score five or more points above the target on at least 80% of new exams (never dipping below three points above your target score), you are probably there. It is very possible for someone to score exactly the way they practice, but statistics say that average scores drop by around five points on test day. This is based, of course, on students' claims about their practice scores, which are usually inflated by suspect timing, re-use of practice material, forgiven mismarkings, omitted experimental sections, lack of perceived pressure because it's only practice, or outright lies.
I don't want to discourage you or any other test takers, but you have a little more work to do. The good news is that some people actually beat their practice scores, but those are usually the people who score above 165 consistently in practice. That should give you a lot of incentive to practice more. If it doesn't...watch Suits, and the early scenes from The Firm and Legally Blonde.
