Aw, I'm in a somewhat similar situation. I think since you were able to improve so much from your first score, it's worth a shot to try to break 170. Keep studying now, you still have over a month before you have to decide about withdrawal.

For those listed schools, your score seems to be on the lower side, albeit it is a great score.

I think 2 months is more than enough time to boost your score significantly, especially if you study effectively.

How have you been studying so far? Unless you have exhausted all studying possibilities and simply hit your ceiling (which may or may not exist, depending on who you talk to), I would recommend that you retake. I think that would also be the general consensus on this forum, but if you retake, you need to be prepared to put in the work in order to boost your score.

OP, you could also take in December and not be too late in the cycle. Just submit everything when apps are released and have them held until release of scores. May give you a chance to study at a more leisurely pace.

Apply to Yale, Stanford, Harvard, Chicago, NYU, Columbia (the T-6) plus Cornell & BU. No need to retake if you're burnt out. Several law schools treat gays as URMs. My best guess is that you'll be admitted to at least four (4) of these eight (8) law schools. Also, creativity counts.

P.S. I forgot to list UCal-Berkeley as a target law school.

Yes, some law school adcomms actually read the entire applications. Your background & focus suggests that you'll receive substantial consideration beyond your numbers.

If you are more comfortable retaking the LSAT, then do so, but your application will stand-out & be remembered in a positive fashion by all who read it.

Is this realistic?
I don't think so....

Since a lower score will not hurt you, no reason not to retake.

You aren't an impossible shot for T14. I am 168/3.67. I have better softs than you otherwise but I am not URM or gay.

In at:
NYU
UC Berk
Northwestern
UCLA
Cornell

Held/WL at
Harvard
U of Chicago
Columbia

Reject:
Yale

So, your chances aint so bad. Just put together a stellar application package.
