i think just about everyone will tell you take a year off and retake, especially since your working full time

If you worked for a year while studying you can certainly score higher than 162. My diagnostic was a 148 and the first time I took the test I scored 159.

I took a year off and received a 164.. and then a 170.

The gains will be worth it IMO (larger scholarships and/or better school options).

It would probably make sense. Don't see too much downside. Right now your best option is probably to go to Florida at sticker, which is going to be a lot of debt to go to a mediocre school in a poor market. Donno what your GPA is, but florida gives out scholarships like candy to 165+'s. A small improvement would get you at least 30k from Florida, plus whatever savings you accumulate in that time. Paying that 30k back in loans over time could be 50k or more after interest... which, tbh, is likely more than you will make in your first year after graduating from UF.

So it makes perfect sense to keep pushing. I was auto-admit to Florida with a 163 and 4.0, but I'm looking at taking the year off and retaking too. It seems like the wise thing to do.

Since you have been accepted to some of your target law schools, therefore accomplishing your goal, I don't understand why you are asking the question.

You can enroll and start law school in the fall at one of your target schools and get going with earning a J.D. rather than lingering in preparing for the LSAT mode for another year.

Depending on the policies of the schools you have been accepted to (somebody mentioned Florida in the thread, but IDK your target schools because you didn't mention any and I haven't read your posts in other threads), some schools let you enroll and then defer when you start 1L for a year. If you want to or need to take another year to make $$ to build up savings or to travel or whatever, you might want to determine if that is an option with the schools that have accepted you. Plus, if it is an option, you can still prep more and take the LSAT again if you feel like it, but I just don't see why you would since you already hit your targets and accomplished your goal.

Full time Law school programs take three years to earn the degree, who knows what the condition of the legal employment market and economy will be in 2015. Many things can and will change between now and then.

Getting into a T1 target school < getting a hefty scholarship at a T1 target school < getting into a T14 < getting a scholarship to a T14.

Retaking could help him go from where he is now to a much more favorable position, even if his current position is percieved as favorable.

Put down deposit. Retake in June. Determine if you have gone higher and if so reapply next year or negotiate for more $$$. If lower/same, matriculate.

That is true, which is why I described the options since we don't know all the facts of the OPs situation. Maybe he posted the list of schools somewhere else, but it isn't in his user profile info or stated in this thread.

So true. Which is why gunning for the highest possible LSAT and putting yourself in the best possible position before you start law school is the way to go.
