162, 167, now back to 162

I did very well on my diagnostic test - 162. On my second PT, which was a Kaplan-administered one, I got a 167. Now, on my third PT, back to 162.

I'm glad I didn't dip below my diagnostic, but I was hoping to keep steady at 167... should I be discouraged? I recall seeing a thread where people posted their score progressions but couldn't find it.

It's completely normal to see large variations from one test to another. That you're scoring somewhere in the mid-160s with little prep is impressive, so I wouldn't be concerned at this point. Going forward as you learn more and get more experience with the material you should see more consistency.

My PT score progression was 159, 158, 164, 167, 163, 170, 173, 178.....I scored a 174 on the real thing, don't get discouraged. The more thoroughly you learn the test and the more comfortable you get with it the more consistency/improvement you will see.

I'm about half way through the Powerscore hw and have already finished the Bibles. I took the class last summer but was overwhelmed with my job so didn't get much out of it. I've done maybe 30 games and a few hundred LR questions..

I know I need a lot more practice, but I was curious to hear other people's experiences in the first ten practice tests. I know I have a long four months ahead and just want to get an idea what I'm in for...

Thanks guys

Scores on practice tests will usually have a range of a couple of points. Every test is different, some have harder RC sections while others have harder Games and etc. It depends on how you feel the day taking the test and whether the test plays up to your strengths or not. At the end of my prep I averaged a 176, however my practice scores were anywhere from a 169 to a 180. You shouldn't stress when your score is a little lower than the usual, it happens to everyone.

And also don't rush taking the LSAT, wait until you average 2 or 3 points more than your target score before taking the test. Most people see a slight decrease in their score on test day. Just keep drilling and make sure to simulate real test conditions in practice and take 5 section tests to improve your endurance.

Can someone point me to a thread where people listed all the practice tests they took and the corresponding scores?
