How many people scored in the 99th percentile?

Post by SoPro » Wed Feb 01, 2012 1:00 pm

Referring to this cycle of course. I would try to figure it out but A) I don't know where to find the data and B) I'm horrible at math.

An approximation is fine.

http://www.lsac.org/LSACResources/Data/ ... stered.asp

Take each number and move the decimal point two places over to find the number of people who scored in the 99th percentile (who, by definition, are 1% of the test-taking population).

Hence, in June 2011, 26,812 people took the LSAT, and 268 of them scored in the 99th percentile.

As far as I can tell, LSAC has only released the total number of test-takers for the 2010-2011 cycle: 155,050 (although I think you can find numbers for the individual test administrations like the poster above me)

Multiply by .01

Is this you not so subtly bragging about your 99th percentile score?

It's me wishing I was in the 99th percentile for the lay prestige.
