Re: Biggest drops for 170+ PTers
My PT avg was 174.5. High of 178, low of 171 except diag. I pulled a 170 on the real deal. I was a little upset at my performance, but not enough to retake. If I had a higher GPA, I would've totally retaken though, because the potential gain would've benefited me more.

Highest PT was 175 for pt 58 (I think)bernaldiaz wrote:I've seen a lot of threads where there practice vs actual LSAT scores. I'm asking something a bit more specific. Primarily for people who had high PT's (but anyone can chime in), what was your drop from your HIGHEST PT to your actual score? I'm sort of interested to see if anyone who had mastered the material enough to get say a 175-180 on a practice test struggled enough on game day to go well below 170.
Average was probably more about 169-170
Actual: 166

I hit 180 4 times before the December 09 test. Ended up with a 169.

Someone needs to create something that is the exact OPPOSITE of this thread. Or do jumpers not exist?

Re: Biggest drops for 170+ PTers
Right before the LSAT I was hitting 175 on almost every PT. Got a 167.
TBF I did hook up with this chick the night before, didn't really sleep.
Didn't retake.

Avg PT: ~173, Highest PT: 178, Actual Score: 166
Didn't have time to retake . I have since transferred to where I would have been had I hit the 173 area, but I am forever haunted by my test-day drop

Hahaha I agree. Even as I was making the thread, even though I was interested in the possible responses, I was thinking how I really didn't want to know the real answers. Although I think we have two jumpers so far that have posted.inthebeginning wrote:Someone needs to create something that is the exact OPPOSITE of this thread. Or do jumpers not exist?

177.something average over the last 10. 176 on the real thing (the big drop was on my previous take). The best expectation is about 3 points below average.

Re: Biggest drops for 170+ PTers
I had an old student who had preptested in the mid to high 170's and then got a 138 on the real thing.
He basically had massive anxiety problems. He came to me for help after the 138 and there was nothing I could do for him. I can help with anxiety, but not if its that bad.
As for jumpers....I preptested from 169-171. Got a 175 on the real thing.

I think my situation is a bit more typical. Was averaging 172s on PTs and then got a 169 (the most obnoxious score ever) on the actual. I think ~3 point drops are about average.

I was PT-ing under real conditions in the mid-170s, got a 160 on the real thing. Wanted to throw self out of window. I didn't really sleep the night before, but everything else was normal. Anxiety much? Yes.
I applied this cycle, but if things don't turn out I'll be in the June retake thread. Stupid Romans.

I had a significant drop if October hadn't had such a generous scale.

Jumper here as well. Highest PT 170, actual 178. Suffice it to say I was surprised when I got my score.Tiago Splitter wrote:Jumper here. But as proven by dumb and dumber, sometimes one in a million is all the confidence you need.
Also, if 170 to 178 happened to me, id probably laugh. And keep laughing for weeks.

Re: Biggest drops for 170+ PTers
I'm another jumper. I took like 10 or so PT's over three weeks, and although I didn't keep track of my scores at all I'd say my average was in the 166 area- highest PT was I think a 168. Most significantly, however, was the last PT I took before the real deal- I got a 163 (if I recall correctly).
My test day score was 173.
My test day score was 173.

I'm not sure if I get more nervous hearing about the drops or more peeved from hearing about the jumpers and knowing it won't happen to me. This thread was not my best idea.

Re: Biggest drops for 170+ PTers
Nah man this is pretty fascinating/frightening. I like what the earlier poster said about paying less attention to your low and high scores and more attention to your average and variance. I'm going to get consistent!!! Like chocolate cake frosting... mmmm... (my girlfriend is making a cake right now--yes!)bernaldiaz wrote:I'm not sure if I get more nervous hearing about the drops or more peeved from hearing about the jumpers and knowing it won't happen to me. Also to do:
--Test with 32 min. sections
--Test with 5+ sections
--Test in busy libraries
The only problem with this (correct me if I am wrong) is that our PT scores will actually be off-whack, right? It will low-ball what we are capable of... buuuut maybe that's a good thing. Hold us back from hubris and shit.

Re: Biggest drops for 170+ PTers
My average PT was around a 175, and I got a 175 on the actual test. I went as low as a 167 on three different PTs, one of those being about a week before the test. The other two were on some of my first few PTs.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
