I understand the stimulus and that this is a necessary assumption question.

The correct answer is B: It is to the advantage of some individuals that they be concerned with contributing to societal good.

To negate that would give us this among a variety of ways to do it: It is to the advantage of no one that one be concerned with contributing to societal good.

I am intrigued into how this interacts with the conclusion of this stimulus, which is that modern literature can damage individuals who have this attitude (attitude of basically abandoning their society), as well as society at large.

If we were to state that it is to the advantage of no one that one be concerned with contributing to society....does that affect our conclusion?

Must it be the case that for something to damage, not doing that same thing offers a benefit?

I am not understanding the interaction between advantage in the answer choice and damage in the conclusion.

Help would be appreciated.
