Would someone interpret this for me plz?

This is from the 1994 Dec test (passage 3)

.....Books about [insert name] betray a curious blind spot..............

What does betray suppose to mean here? Does it mean show/exhibit? (does betray also have that meaning?)

Plz understand, English is my second language.

Basically the word "betray" here means "reveals."

It it is an abstract use of the word "betray," but think of the "blind spot" being "betrayed" by the fact that all the books about [insert person] avoid the blind spot, and therefore make it painfully obvious that the blind spot exists... If that makes any sense....
