Sabbath Exam

I just got back from the LSAT, Sabbath Exam.
There were seven people taking the exam together at the testing center.
I talked to everyone beforehand, they all seemed like nice, educated people.
Everyone during the break expressed a negative outcome regarding the logic games portion of the test.
After the test, nearly everyone indicated that they did not perform well enough to get into the law school of the choice.
One girl even cried quietly at her desk during the essay portion of the test.
It was LG-LR-LR-RC-LR.
I saw no difference in difficulty between the Logical Reasoning sections.
The RC section questions was easy and the passages were moderate to a little easy to understand.
The LG hurt most people, but they were all the types that can be studied ahead of time, nothing new so to speak, with a similar distribution as the published p-score percent chance of appearing.
I had to guess on the last questions on three of the four games due to what type question normally occurs on the last question of each games due to time.
Time was NOT an issue for me. I finished with 2-3 minutes to spare on each section except LG, the first section also.
I have great respect for those who score in the 170s, and can't imagine what an 180 is like without 12 months of study, a little luck, and a mind for it that can't be taught. 180 is that illusive imo.
I will not let a test keep me from going to law school, I just have to adjust my expectations a little lower now, and consider relocation.

PS After taking the LSAT, I think that it is an unnecessary obstacle in selecting the Law School of my choice. But that sounds like a loser talking, but I think a different format would better suit MY needs.

Hey! I'm happy to find another Sabbath observer here. I was hoping somebody else who wrote the sabbath exam would join a discussion. Congrats on beating the clock in the test. I'm only able to finish my LR sections. My test was LR-RC-LG-LR-RC. I'm so curious about which RC was experimental! Usually the 5th section is graded, so I presume my third was experimental. Do you have an idea of which LR was experimental for you? LG was ok... nothing unexpected.

It kills me that our test is undisclosed. We're graded on the same scale as everybody else, right?

Don't let the test deter you from law school! It's completely unrepresentative of an individual's ability to succeed in law school.

Maybe they get different tests than we do?

It's a different test for sabbath observers. It wouldn't be fair if the people who wrote the test today got the same one as the that administered on Saturday. The relative difficulty of the tests is supposed to be equal.

I had LG LR LR RC LR

I believe the 1st LR was the experimental, just seemed much more difficult than the other two. RC wasn't too bad, LG which is usually my strongest section, was the most difficult section on the test in my opinion. Wonder what the curve will be but I guess we will never know. If i had to guess I would think its -11 or -12. What did the rest of you think???

I also had LG LR LR RC LR. It wasnt that bad, LG was not too hard but not too easy- just time consuming. RC was definitely one of the hardest i've done of all my 25 preptests. LR wasnt also wasnt to difficult or easy. If I had to guess -12 or -13.

I wasn't saying that about the difficulty. I meant why were you discussing the test during the break? Just asking for a violation.

I was also slowed down on my third game. I really should have worked on the fourth before because it was wayyyy easier.

Does anybody know how our LSATs are curved relative to other test takers?

Yeah the third game was killing me so I just moved on to the fourth and just guessed on most of the third.

I had LR-RC-LG-LR-RC.

Does anyone who had just 1 RC section remember any of the topics?

Happy Channukah everyone! I'm praying for a Channukah miracle that our scores come out on the 27th. If not then I will have lots of grievances to air around the Festivus pole.

The good news is though that sabbath test takers are scored along with everyone else, if they werent youd be competing with every other jew- you'd be looking at a -8 170 curve lol

+1 for Hebrew writing.

I think that the curves are pre-determined based on previous experimental sections. I keep hearing mixed reviews for how the curves are decided... especially for the shabbat exam writers.

How did all the members of the tribe here celebrate the holy Christmas? Chinese food, movie theatre and casino? I did 2/3.

A Harvard yeshiva-bachor staying at school over the winter holidays? Shouldn't you at least go home for the break? And I would type back in Hebrew but don't have it on my BB :(.

Going into latke overload... Never thought that would even be possible.

הלכתי הביתה. אני רק אומר שאיני הולך לסרט
(is that how you spell seret? you know the old horrible thing they say about wearing a yarlmuke without a border אם אתה לובש כיפה בלי סרט, סוף שתלך לסרט בלי כיפה.)
