I was originally going to take the December 2011 LSAT, but have decided to postpone it because my preptest scores were inadequate for my goal schools. Hopefully, now that I'm taking it in June 2012, I'll be adequately prepared and ready to get that 180. My backup is the October 2012 administration.
Background info: lower junior, 3.8 GPA. I'll be studying in China next semester, so my LSAT prep will be a little unique. Thus far, my highest preptest score has been a 160. I have no trouble with reading comp, but struggle with LR and LG.
More to come; this will be my journal of sorts as I prepare.

Re: 7 Months to a 180
Good for you; you can definitely do it.
I would only recommend taking all 65 PT's (timed and 5 sections), in the next 7 months, signing up for Velocity, and never going a couple of days without making some progress. I think your best shot is truly learning the test, deeply; you need to understand the test on such a level that you'd be a fantastic LSAT tutor. With LG, I recommend buying Cambridge's LG by type, so you can drill simple ordering, then relative ordering, etc. I started out missing ~12 on games and now a -1 is disappointing. Practice, practice, practice and you'll be a guaranteed -0.
I took my first 5 section PT - 52 days ago - and got a 163. I have a 169.33 average over my last 6 PT's, and 3 of them were in the 170's. I can't wait to read how you got your 180, eight months from now.
Best of luck!
