I want to maximize my chances at CCN (most interested in Chicago and Columbia) and I’m considering retaking the LSAT for a shot at a 175. I got a 173 this October, and have a 3.65 gpa. While I previously (i.e. last year .. stupid decision) took the LSAT and got a 167, I am currently PT-ing around 176-177.
I'm wondering whether you guys think it's a good idea to retake? If I go down a point or two, will it hurt me, or will I still be treated as a 173 applicant? Do schools really average LSAT's anymore (the consulting group I'm getting help from says no, irrespective of what they say publicly)? How much does my 167 hurt me, if at all?
Incidentally, I am 3.65 173 with fairly impressive softs.

Neither of them average scores in practice, but if you shit the bed and get another sub-170 score it probably does hurt your chances somewhat. I'd still re-take if you are legitimately in the upper 170s on PTs going in.

Apply now, and retake if you don't get in.
