Im able to narrow down my answer choices from 5 to 2...

Hi,
I am able to successfully narrow down my answer choices from 5 to 2. However, I constantly miss the 50/50 shot. Counting those problems I miss as if I had selected correctly increases my score from 148 to 160. This problem expands through all the LSAT, regardless of section.
Any tips? It just seems dumb to think that I should question myself and select an answer contrary to the one I believe is correct, but it might maybe help.
Thanks in advance.

That guy is giving good advice, but I feel like OP might not be far enough in their studies if they are only getting down to 2 possible choices on most questions.

Mehbeh, but I think he may prove himself helpful to people of most skill levels. Just helping, yo.

Well, I have all three LSAT Powerscore bibles. I went over them a while back, then hit the Prep test. My strongest area is reading comprehension. The other two sections are the ones that give me more trouble. I am beginning to believe that the analytical section is easier than logical reasoning.
The prep test I have taken have not been timed because I want to feel comfortable with my skills, then I'll aim for time. I took a time test at a Kaplan event- I scored 142, but I really was not trying- I could not concentrate. I had my cell of vibrate and people just starting bugging. Then the desks were really uncomfortable.
I am aiming for the October test.
What should I do?
Thank You!

you should postpone the test til december or june.
give yourself enough time to go through the bibles and to taking at least 15 timed under testing conditions PTs.

Just remember that when you get down to the two choices that one is absolutely wrong for some reason. Focusing on eliminating the wrong answer rather than trying to find the right answer may help out as a general tip.

I was going to suggest the opposite. He should try and find the right answer immediately instead of the 3+1 wrong ones. Especially since he is scoring pretty low, it might be that he doesn't know what a right answer "looks" like.

Here's a tip from Manhattan's LR book (definitely recommend the book) that really helped me. Compare the 2 attractive answer choices directly back to the stimulus, NOT to each other.

And, specifically, the conclusion (at least for the stimuli with conclusions). While the discrepancy in logical force can come from the premises, it often comes from the conclusion. That's the first place I'd look.
Also, most people who think they 'consistently' get the 50/50 shot wrong actually get it right 50% or so of the time (sometimes more). You just only think about it later when you get it wrong. Not saying that's happening here, but you might want to make a little mark for each question where you get it down to 2; you might find that you pick right a lot more often than you think.

I was actually going to post on this, too. I've now taken about 8 tests (the earliest ones) and have seen my score plateau between 161 and 164, mainly because I either: 1) change my [correct] answer to an incorrect answer or 2) narrow down to two answers and select the wrong one. I've reviewed these tests and the opposite of either of these happens a lot less (even though I get what bp is saying). Are there strategies to help me improve?
