No TV / minimal Internet a month before

Currently prepping for the October LSAT. A friend of mine told me when she was prepping last year, she stopped watching television and using the Internet a month before the test, and did not start back up until after. She claimed it helped her reach a totally different type of concentration level because her mind wasn't clouded with all the tv/online bullshit. Can anyone else attest to this?

Whether or not this is worth it for a person depends entirely on the individual. No one on TLS can answer this for you. You need to know yourself and what you need to do to score well.
Personally, I don't think cutting out television and internet would help at all. They were definitely welcome distractions for me in the time leading up to the LSAT.

this is ridiculous. People throw such extreme numbers out on this sight in terms of how much they study they do not realize how long a month of good, solid studying really is. Go to school/ work or whatever, come home, relax, eat, watch some tv or do something that you enjoy for a little bit without a care in the world, then just study for the rest of the night. If you have to cut everything else besides LSAT out of your life you are not studying right

LSAT is a joke. None of this is necessary.

I don't see what is so "extreme" about all this. I am certainly not a television addict, so I do not need to learn "self control." This was a question directed to any one out there who has done this. IMO, television/Internet has a profound effect on the mind and I have a feeling that the absence of these media forms will help a person to be a bit sharper for a test, at least for the short-term.

Being relaxed for the test is going to be much more valuable than any possible concentration gain from cutting everything out. If those things help you relax, keep doing them in a responsible manner. If they distract you from studying, limit how much you watch or surf.
I'm a morning person by default, but acrossthelake's comment about preparing to get up early (if your test is early) is good advice IMO.

I don't think it will hurt. I'm planning on not having a TV in law school. It can be a major distraction and procrastination catalyst. It's better if you can learn to control yourself, but if you're addicted, by all means, pull the plug.

I threw away my TV almost 7 years ago. There are many more hours in the day now. I ought to ditch my internet, but then I'd lose touch with almost everyone I know.

If you find your mind wandering towards TV and Internet related things during prep, then it might be a good idea to cut it off. If you are one of those people with the urge to check their facebook every 5 minutes, or keep daydreaming about the next episode of ...uh... ...Lost? (IDK TV) Then it's probably a good idea to shut it off.
But if it helps you relax and chill out without distracting consequences, I can see it being beneficial.
If you decide to deprive yourself, at least keep going to TLS -- this place can be very inspirational.
