166+3.9 Retake or Wait [Engineering Student]

I just received my score 166 (-7LR -9RC). :(
I averaged 172 in the 20+ PTs I did. RC is always my weakness but mostly -5 in PTs. The RC this time is a little bit overwhelming. I have an undergrad GPA of 3.9+ in a big 10 school which has a good fame in engineering but not that good overall.

I want Columbia and with 166+3.9 it is hopeless. With my GPA and UG experience, it is very likely that i can get into a pretty decent engr grad school (Stanford for example). Me question is should I go for a master in engr first or retake LSAT in October? Doing researches and doing PTs are both time consuming .Can't focus on both.

I cant really help you as far as the engineering part of the question.

But if you want to go to law school, you are in a position to be a much more competitive candidate with a few more LSAT points.

3.9 from Purdue? Get into a PhD program and drop out and get the MS. Or complete it and have a real career.

What field of engineering?

Retake before you apply to law school.

Yep
Boiler Up!!!

If I gonna apply for law school I will definitely retake it. What I am not sure about is if I should retake it in October and apply this year or go to grad school first, retake and apply later on.

December has the easier curve -- retake then. I predict you would be a T-4 competitive candidate if you can hit 170+ with H a strong possibility if 172+. YOur major and grades and incredibly impressive, and engineers are in demand for patent law. Would very likely make a T-14 even if you don't retake, given your great grades and tough major.

Unless you are EE, I'd get the MS. And don't pay for it. Get into a PhD prog. and drop out with the MS while getting paid 30K in stipend.

If you get an MS you'll be pretty damn IP secure in terms of getting a firm job. In fact, if you get that 170+, I'd take $$$$ at the lower T14 over YHS.

Don't listen to the fool above me, there is no "easier curve." Retake whenever you have time.

I've got exactly the same numbers as you (166 and a 3.86). I think I will retake in October... just getting 5 more questions right brings us to a 168-169, which is a huge difference.
