not to sound like an ass because it's absolutely not my intention and i hardly remember any of it, but why did everyone think kate chopin was horrible? i actually thought the oceanography one was killer and maybe some of the questions on the traditions.

One fine piece. She's broken so many hearts.

Oceanography was easy. Some of the science passages in recent tests were much harder. I didn't think Kate Chopin was all that difficult, but there were a couple of tricky questions - were those the questions on the traditions? I forget.

no, traditions were on the alaska passage.

Oh - that's right! I recall struggling with one of those questions. I guess I shouldn't go into further detail.

I mean, I'm the polar opposite (no pun intended). Oceanography was easy IMHO, maybe because I had Geology back in '08, but I just couldn't read through Chopin and feel successful. The other RC was much better, but a -4 on this would be great.

I'm down with Kate Chopin.

What do you mean, that's not what this is about?

No one thought historical objectivity was hard? Maybe I thought so because I did it last and I was running out of time (and confidence). Chopin I thought was the easiest one, but I was an English major.

Historical objectivity seemed pretty straightforward to me.

1-2 questions on objectivity and 1-2 on oceans i felt iffy about. so -2 at best, -4 at worst for me on this whole RC.

I'm sorry but I honestly thought this section was a breeze. If you do enough RC practice tests you begin to know what is going to be asked and while you're reading its always a good idea to highlight the things that are pretty sure to be asked in the questions...i highlighted the key things i could sense and had no problem answering those questions...

I think the difference is that some tests, the ones with two RC sections, had people's brains fried by the time they got to RC with Chopin, while the tests with two LGs, which require a lot less reading enabled takers to think clearly....I don't even think I had done much reading until after break.

I'm the same way and I usually struggle with the literary passages but I felt comfortable on that one with the exception of one question. I felt like I understood the historical passages really well but I just wasn't able to push through the questions for some reason. I'm hoping I did better than I felt. I never felt good about RC when I did PT's.

None of the passages were difficult, the problem for me was having the RC section last and taking it with a splitting headache. That alone probably cost me a point or two.

Agreed. I was too in the zone to care what Kate Chopin had up her giant, puffy sleeves.

I was saddened to find out it wasn't about Frederic, that guy I know. But alas one should have figured they would roll with a women's rights passage, it's only their favorite thing ever.

I don't think it was necessarily that bad, but having RC as the last section definitely killed it for me. Those of you who had to take on ChopinOttersOceansHistorians 4-5 hours into the test (with 3 LRs that seemed to fly by) know what I'm talkin' bout, especially after that double "not both" LG mindf*ck (coming from a guy who is -0 LG). Although I have to say I do think I did well on the comparative reading, seemed really straightforward, almost didn't even have to read all of it.
