Your very first timed practice test: What did you get?

Hey all. I've just started studying for the October LSAT. Yesterday I took my very first practice test, timed, before any formal study. I got a 149. :? I was pretty discouraged even though I know I shouldn't be. I know the average is like a 151, so I was only slightly below average going in cold. As expected, the LGs did me in the most. I got 9/12 correct on the first two sets and just didn't have time to even consider the other two (I scanned them all and did the two first I thought seemed easier).

Wondering: What did you all get on your very first timed test--(the one you took before you started studying just to see where you were at)?

I'm just starting out so your score plus any general words of wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks!

either a 154 or 158, I don't remember. Took the real thing in December and got a 166. My PTs ranged from 166-173. Retaking in October. It's very possible to score high.

But I'll play anyway. 160 I think? Might have been a 159... I don't remember exactly.

Don't worry about your LG score. I got like a -14 on that section the first time I took a practice test, which means I only got 8 or 9 right. By the time I got around the test, I got -1, so a 22/23.

I got a 159 on my first practice.
Studied after work for about 6 weeks...I was scoring in the high 160s.
Got a 164 on test day. It was enough for what I needed.

Your first one doesn't matter. After 2 or three you see where you really are. Just getting the timing in the ballpark can mean 10 points.

I got 166, 168, 168 on my first 3 practice tests. The first was with no reading or studying. The second two were after a bit of reading through the Superprep book. Now, after going through a bunch of the LGB, my last PT was 161. :-/
Point of my story - Diagnostic doesn't really matter. I think the general consensus on this forum is that LG can be learned (by almost anyone) well enough to get you a -1 or -0 on the section. If you missed many in the reading comprehension section on your diagnostic, that may be a bit harder to improve in. GL

My first timed test was a 157, I was so surprised to how fast I needed to go! For almost each section I averaged -2 for the first 20 questions or so and completely got wrong the last 7 in each section.

168 --> 168 :?

I didn't really log my PT scores the first time around (hence no improvement, I pretty much bs-ed studying) so I don't know if I was that close, but I ranged between 165-173. Needless to say I am retaking lol.

151 ---> 173, 178 PT avg going into the exam (boo test anxiety!). PM if you have questions, but LSAT is very learnable.

141. Getting that low of a score now just seems impossible to me.

Completely cold diagnostics really don't mean much. The difference between my totally-unfamiliar-with-the-test diagnostic and the very next test I took after reading the Bibles was about 13 points. Seriously.
