Hello,

First time LSAT taker-who will be sittting in June test.

For our 4th section mistakenly opened up book to section 5 and went to town. Didnt realize this until moderator announced the real section 5. Oh no.

Figured test score would be scratched for doing this, even on accident, so I kept quiet and just went over it again. Changed a few answers and finished the few that didnt get to.

=Heres the thing-

Moderator was sitting right next to me the whole test and did not say anything. Figured she didnt notice or would have brought it to my attention.

What are the rules for if this does happen?

I estimated that it was scored as 20%-25% , even with this, I knew my material and 3/4 sections were at least 60-70% correct. No doubt on this. Not to mention getting 60m on another section!

My reported score was VERY VERY low. It doesnt add up.

The only explanation I think is they knew and voided sections 4 and 5. or possibly there was a scantron error?

what the hell are you talking about? sounds like you should have canceled.. and 60-70% correct on a section isnt that good without the 2 section SCREWUP.. study harder and retake

If they thought/knew you had cheated, they would have written you up (and would have probably told you this in the process), and your score would have been rendered invalid. The fact that you got a score means they didn't find you out.

As for your score...taking your prediction into account and assuming each section was worth an equal amount, and there were 100 questions, and it was a -10 curve, you should have gotten around 143-147. How much lower was your score?

I'm just stupefied that you didn't immediately determine to cancel that score. Why on earth would you allow the test to be scored if you knew in advance that you missed probably 18-23 questions in addition to all the questions you actually worked through and answered incorrectly? If I'm understanding you correctly, you forfeited somewhere around 20% of the test, yet you allowed it to be scored. Wow. That's definitely not something I would advise being forthcoming about in any addendum explaining the score.

Let's say there were 100 questions total.

You started off with 25 automatically wrong, meaning that even perfection on the rest of the test would only get you a score somewhere around 161-162. Not cancelling immediately was really, really dumb.

Let's assume that you got 60-70% of the rest of the questions correct, as you guessed. This means you missed somewhere between 22 and 30 additional questions, bringing your total number of incorrect responses to somewhere between 47 and 55.

This would give you a raw score somewhere between 45 and 53, which translates to a score somewhere between 144 and 149.

The bottom line is that you should have known you were going to get an awful score and you should have cancelled. Now even if you retake and do amazingly well you'll have to explain the 14X away.

Also, OP said they are taking it for the first time in June, so OP must be talking about a proctored PT.

Came up with a good argument. But it is not scored. Why is this 'crucial' in this situation?
