My rule of thumb is if you think you can score 3+ points higher, than yes you should retake. Right now you have a shot at some T14 schools and money at some schools in the 15-30 range. A few points higher could mean being competitive for money in the T14. I think that is definitely worth studying as hard as possible starting right now for a June retake.handlesthetruth wrote:Hey everyone,
I sat for the February LSAT and scored a 168. I am contemplating a retake and would love your input. Here is information that seems relevant to a decision:
PT average: My average on my last ten tests (which seem most relevant as I had finally started to fully grasp principles) was 170.5. My last three PTs were 175, 173, 175.
Goals: I want biglaw, but ideally it would be in a smaller big city - think Minn, Boston, indy, etc.
App stuff: 3.8ish GPA, assume pretty much zero softs (white male in UG, no work experience, lots of campus involvement)
Not too debt averse: no UG debt
I think I'd liketo be somewhere in the Midwest for my career but I'm not sure where, and I wouldst mind getting away for three years to go to a great school that would let me come back with great prospects.
Michigan is my number one choice at the moment.
should I retake?
Also - a June retake might mean I take a lesser job (softs-wise) so that I can get plenty of study time)
It might hurt your chances at the lower T14, but I doubt it will have an effect on most schools in the T25 range.handlesthetruth wrote:Thanks for the input guys...
I understand I would likely get a lot of money at some T25 schools with 3.8 and 168. Would a retake and a lower score put this in jeopardy?
