does taking timed PTs lose usefulness?

the general consensus is that..take timed PTs at all costs!
and this is completely true.
However, what if youve depleted all tests, you basically "know" the LSAT...
and you are just studying for it one last time, after a tremendous amount of time
spent on it, so that u dont have anymore real "Tricks" to learn or anything..
i found that taking the PTs personally at this point wasnt at useful anymore.. and it
just burnt me out real good after a certain point
im going to try nitpicking at certain questions, etc.
gonna try and see how this works. anyone else like this?

So you've taken 60 PT's already? Of course you're going to be burnt out.

yeah that was more of a side note..
im just saying, after you've really gotten the "gist" of the LSAT
does it become less necessary to be taking regular PT and more allowable
to just focus on certain nuances or question types.
just tryin to see if others are the same as me

Honestly I would have focused on the nuances first before even PTing. Or doing something like general LSAT overview, focus on where you have problems, do some PT's and identify your weaknesses, focus on those weaknesses, then do more PT's, and then some more PT's.

Yes, taking timed PT's loses usefulness. I experienced that
and I believe that it is a general rule that after a certian point, additional study time yields diminishing returns.

For my first 20 PTs, I only timed every third one so I could focus accuracy while seeing if my timing improved at successive intervals (which it did). For my last 15 PTs, every single one was timed. While practicing under test conditions is optimal, don't wear yourself out by doing a timed test every single time.

If you're just hammering out PT's and not doing any sort of real or thoughtful review I can see how this might be true. However you should be spending as much time reviewing the test as you did taking it so you understand why you got a question right, why you got a question wrong and why the correct answer choice is right, etc. I really don't believe that you can over prepare for the LSAT.

Do timed sections, review them immediately after, space them out more. You have to maintain that mental stopwatch that tells you to answer and move on.

This.

This is one of the few things that makes timed preptests even useful.
