My first practice without any preparation was a 145. What are some suggestions to get in the 165 range by next October? Is this a realistic goal?

Study a lot, then study more.
Is this a realistic goal?
It's possible to do, but without knowing you and your ability to learn new skills and master them, nobody here can possibly predict where you can expect to be in October.

i started with a 145 as well. do every PT you can between then and now (review answers as well) and you will reach that top 10%(165) range

Don't shoot for a specific score. Just work as hard as you can. I started out at 136. While I didn't get the score I initially aimed for, I was able to score high enough to get into the schools I wanted by creating a solid all-around application.

My best advice is to analyze the trends/patterns of the test. Also, I favor taking the December test. While this sounds unconventional, I believe you can use the June and Oct test of the same year to predict the patterns on the December test.

Too many threads on this but just follow the above advice. Don't aim for a specific score, just give yourself 3 months, full dedication and you'll be hitting 160+ in no time.

It's realistic, I started at 146 and got a 163. I'm sure you can get a 165, just prepare to do a ton of studying.

147 to 168 here.

I would say how high you can go really depends on what you are not understanding on the test. I was able to get up to the high 150's after a couple more test and then it took hard work to add on another 10 points. For 5 months I was doing two full tests every weekend, going over the answers and doing drills for an hour every day during the week. I peaked around 164 took the test in October and scored probably a 150. Really choked and I cancelled. I took a break for two weeks and then went back at it and got over the hump. December turned out as well as I could have hoped for. If you really want it don't give up.

My friend went from a 141 to a 167 with 8 months of prepcourse and self study.
So technically not impossible if you want it bad enough.

Its a realistic goal, but you need to aim higher if you want a good shot at a good job ITE.
