Do you believe you scored a 180?

Post by Anomaly » Mon Dec 13, 2010 11:25 am

Let's pretend it's a -4 curve...do you think you may have pulled it off?

I don't think so, I've never scored higher than 176 on PT's, and this test was the hardest I've seen in a while.

With a -4 curve, I believe a 180 is a possibility though certainly not likely due to stupid mistakes that always show up.

When I took Feb, I walked out pretty sure that I nailed it. I was still a little surprised when I got the perfect score back, though. I doubt anybody could be more confident than I was (had taught the LSAT for nearly 4 years).

I totally scored 180 without a -4 curve. And then I found $5.

This takes some detailed analysis. I have had at least a few perfect sections in all types, and when i get some wrong, there are three different way I do. In LR, I am baffled, narrow it down, and choose among the last two (Sometimes I can't even narrow it down, but I always know which LR I may have gotten wrong). In the end, I sometimes find that I chose wrong.

In RC, They're almost invariably just dumb mistakes. I've had a lot of trouble lately with "the meaning of the word XXXXX on line 42 etc." I've also even gotten some Main point questions wrong. But at the time, I'm usually pretty confident that I'm right.

In LG, I often don't finish. I finished 52ish to 56 with -0 or -1, and the mistakes were just dumb. Then, from 57-60, I always got 2-3 wrong just by not finishing.

Analysis: I don't remember any question in LR that I really struggled with (assuming I have the right one as experimental). That has meant, at least recently, -0 or -1. But that's all I have any level of confidence in. I had two on RC that I was really unsure about, although I've become convinced that at least one was correct. I was kind of scrambling at the end of LG, but I did finish. That leaves the dumb mistakes on RC and LG that I usually make but almost never foresee. I guess there is the possibility that I made fewer than three dumb mistakes. I wouldn't bank on it though, and I'd happily take the -5 for a 179. :) (That would also be my highest score ever).

Eta: i shouldn't really be so confident, because honestly, it's not like I ever didn't make at least a few stupid mistakes. Also, FWIW I didn't have the killer LG section because I took the sabbath version.

Your curve is different than ours then. Enjoy your -5 for a 175.

Nope.

But like anyone who has ever gotten a perfect section in each type at some point, I can hope.

And like anyone who has gotten a -8 on each section at some point, I fear a -40.

However, seeing as I average -2/-3 per section, I'll likely get a -10 to -15. (last time in June was -16)
