Retake a 168?

Stats:
GPA: 3.23
LSAT: 168

So, I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I'd love the opportunity to practice "biglaw" in Atlanta, so I've been looking into schools that place relatively well there. With my stats now, I think I have a decent shot at UGA and Emory but I would definitely like some more options. I've heard some really great things about UVA and Vanderbilt, but I know I'm not a strong enough candidate with where things stand right now.

Thoughts on a) whether retaking the LSAT in December and applying later would be worth it and b) how much of an LSAT boost would make me a competitive applicant for UVA and Vandy (ideally with some scholarship money)?

The deadline to register for the Dec. test is approaching fast, so I'd appreciate any input! Thanks!

Getting $ at either is going to be an uphill battle almost regardless of your score. Retake anyway.

I'm retaking a 168.

The way I look at it is you only live once, and if in 3 years I'm sitting there with a huge debt and no job, I'll never be able to forgive myself if I didn't take one last try to break 170.

I think it's always in your best interest to maximize the LSAT. The way I see it, if it improves your chances at getting a scholarship, why not?

Here's my two cents: apply now to schools you think you have a decent shot at, retake in December, and then apply to reach schools after you get the results back if you did better than a 168. This is still a great score, but if you do better, you can always send that result back to the schools you applied to earlier and maybe swing some $$$.
