June 2011 – 175+ or Bust – Study Group

Post by deminion » Sat Nov 06, 2010 11:06 am

I want to make a study group with a few extreme TLSers. I have outlined a possible plan below. Let's discuss modifications to the plan before we start next week.

1) This study plan is intense and should only considered by those who want a 175+
2) We will be taking every single LSAT available
3) We will be gauging our progress by analyzing the types of questions we missed and focusing our studies on those problems.
4) We will be taking 4 LG's a day to make sure -0 is the only option when we take the LSAT in June 2011

Jeez do people actually do this much studying?????? I mean best of luck I hope you knock it out of the park, but taking every single practice test and starting in November for a June test seems like a little overkill IMO

LR & LG Bibles. There is a lot of time in between tests to focus on your weaknesses. I will probably also read a book on Logic since that is one of my weaker areas.

Might be joining this group if I don't get into my top choice this cycle. Good luck everyone!

Best of luck to you OP, but what's the reasoning behind taking used tests immediately prior to the actual LSAT? Just curious.

i'm in; but if you're studying for similar to 7 months, shouldn't you be shooting for 175+

Most people can max out their score with the LG Bible and 12-15 practice tests. 6 weeks, 20 hours a week.

I would take every practice test out there at least 3 times. You are to late for next cycle you should probably plan on applying in 2014.

I really did not want to use the latest LSAT tests 2 weeks before the real LSAT. I want to learn the newest tests a little earlier in case I have any troubles. The re-takes will primarily focus on timing...30 min sections.

I have a full-time job making decent money. I am not going to law school if I cannot score above a 170. $160,000 of additional debt + lackluster economy (this is the new normal people) makes me too scared to consider a lower school than a T14.

With that attitude and a passion to study law, I want to do my absolute best on this test. I know 7 months behind me will allow me to kill this test.

I'll be joining this group in about March if I bomb the February LSAT....that is, no 7 in the tens place.

I have similar aspirations for a 175+ and plan on having an extended study plan. Here is my current schedule:
December/January: LSAT superprep and the three tests contained therein.
February: Logic Games Bible and three practice tests.
March: Logic Reasoning Bible and three practice tests.
April: 3 practice tests per week.
May: 4 practice tests per week.
June: 2 practice tests.

I am going to take about 40 tests over this time and so I plan on cutting up the first 10 actual test book into sections and adding them to my practice tests to give me 5-section tests. I feel as if this schedule will help me practice a lot and avoid burnout. Thoughts?

I will be adding 2 additional sections to my test near the end of it to give me supreme stamina.
I think the the LR Bible does a poor job explaining necessary and sufficient assumption questions, so make sure you read the forums about those type of questions. I can post a write up about it this weekend.

Nope. I posted the schedule and anyone can join the weekly test if they have time. I just wanted to get a big schedule posted so that anyone who wanted to join for the week and PT could come and discuss.

I still recommend that you read the Bibles by the end of the year.

bump.

do you all want to have a conference call ever once in a while to cover some broad themes?

i.e. motivation, comprehension, various breakthroughs, etc.

Yes. I saw that I screwed up. I can modify the schedule. It seems like most people wanted to start a little later. Should I modify the schedule to start PTing December 1st? How many PT's a week (I was thinking 2). I can modify the schedule to include 5 section tests and near the end 6 section tests.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
