Re: If you scored 5+ points below your PT average

My practice tests were normally in the low 170s, and when I left the testing center I believed that I likely surpassed that. All my PT's were strictly timed, although I did have a tendency to take five to ten minute breaks after each section and I never added an additional section to simulate the experimental. I received a 161 yesterday. I missed eight from bubbling errors, which would have still put me at only 165. Nonetheless, I noticed that I made some pretty silly errors and missed questions I would have normally answered correctly. I think the anxiety of taking the actual test gave me delusions of grandeur.

I think it was nerves and lack of sleep. I am retaking in February, and this time I signed up to take it at my undergrad where I am currently a student, instead of at an unfamiliar community college half an hour away. Hopefully, that and the retake experience will calm the nerves.
I thought I'd messed up RC, but that was right at my PT average (-3). Instead I messed up LG (-4 as opposed to -1 PT average) and LR (-7 as opposed to -4 PT average). I plan on working more on LR and RC for sure, and need to figure out where and why I messed up on the games.

My fault. I lack endurance and I should have done 5 PTs.

I did strict timed 5 section tests. analog watch only. honestly, it comes down to nerves, my first LR section threw me off and killed me cuz I lost 5 whole minutes due to nerves, I finished the section in 30 minutes (meaning I rushed through). I was prepping at 166-170 and ended up with a 163. Not the biggest drop I've seen on TLS, but enough to make me retake in December.

I was lenient with myself when I was in the middle of a question and time expired and I studied with four section PTs. As I now prepare for December, I am going to simulate test conditions exactly.
Nerves were not an issue. Timing and stupid reading mistakes (like always) were.

I scored at the low end of my PT average, and was hoping for high end.
honestly, though I did to 4 section PT's, I don't think that hurt any (didn't feel put off by the extra section and actually got -1 on section 5, which was my best scored section so obviously fatigue wasn't a factor)
But I did badly exactly where I did badly in PT...so either a) I needed to somehow make games make even more sense to me or b) I need to just accept that I'm not going to get 180 on the damn thing.

I did not see my score drop from PTs, that being said I was much less comfortable for the real thing and don't think I was firing on all cylinders mentally. The reason: setting! If you take all of your PTs in 1 or 2 places, you get comfortable with those locations and test day becomes a little more of a shock to the system. I would strongly recommend varying your PT location as much as possible.
Also important (you may already be doing it): Inserting a 5th section into the PT (I used sections from the early PTs that I never took) and trying to have someone else proctor for you at least once or twice.
