So I found out I got a 172 -- not impressive, but I'm not complaining.
Will any schools give out fee waivers for that score? And if so which schools? And when?

So far I've received fee waivers from Columbia, Duke, Texas, Vandy, BU, Iowa, and a ton of lower ranked schools - I got a 165. You'll get plenty of fee waivers.

Okay, potentially dumb question: how do you know you've received a fee waiver?

Usually, they email you and let you know (to incentivize you to apply).

There are also "hidden" fee waivers: you find those by completing an application for a school and hitting submit. Then instead of asking you for $75 or whatever, LSAC will say that the fee has been waived.

so, I want to apply by Monday though, early enough for Cornells EA, will I get the waiver as soon as i hit "submit"?

Probably not. You can wait for them to send you a waiver or email them to ask for one. Some schools will refund your money if they send you a waiver after you've applied, but some won't. I don't know which of those categories Cornell falls into.

Thanks! I was getting kind of antsy since some people seem to have gotten fee waivers already and I hadn't. I guess I'll just wait it out!

I got a ton of fee waivers and my score is only 161. You will definitely get all the fee waivers I got plus likely a lot I didn't (Michigan, USC, etc)

However, sometimes it also depends on your LSAC GPA too though. USC requires you to be above their medians in both. I am above almost all the schools medians for GPA (except HYS and possibly CCN).

Most of the people who have waivers took the test in June. The waivers tend to trickle in.

Dude, a 172? That's pretty bad. I'd go ahead and scrounge up the money for most/all of your application fees. No way are you getting many fee waivers (if at all.)

around what score (minimum) people receive fee waivers?

how does gpa play in this? eg is lsat factored in only for most schools or is there usually a gpa threshold, some being higher than others for certain schools, in fee waiver considerations (i ask b/c i have a low gpa)

most importantly when do emails start coming in from schools (i want to apply to a few schools as early as possible b/c of rolling admissions but would like to save on the $80/school)

i would appreciate any information provided. thank-you.

Damn it. I started sending them off 15 min after I got my score. Never thought to wait for fee waivers for schools that I wasn't EA, ED, or reaching for.
