Can someone explain to how to approach and solve #3 and #6 on this game?

Grr, I wish I had been calmer on the Track and Artifacts game of PT61.

Anyway, with these old games, if I don't see anything stick out, I go back to the rules and restrictions. For that matter, knock A out right off the bat. The next big limitation is with N. The rule that H and I must give reports the day after N pretty much means the only way H and N can be on the same day is if they do Wed. So you're done.

For #6, use the N limitation to your advantage to draw out 2 hypos: (cannot be on Mon due to G and cannot be Tues because of info in the stimulus). O and R are also out of the running for open spots since they can't be in the afternoon. You get: K/I H/G L/N for hypo 1 and K/I L/G H/N for Hypo 2. That's how I got B.

Now these look simple and yet when I compare it to choking in time on PT61, I feel angry.

#3: Immediately look for a relationship that binds two of the students together into a position. We know that N is bound to H and I by rule 3. And because of this rule, if the only way H and N could give reports on the same day would be on Wednesday. Otherwise, H would have to give a report the very next day after N.

#6: H, K, and L occupy the morning spaces, so that means that O and R are the two students out (By rule two, O and R cannot occupy afternoon spaces). Thus G, I, and N occupy the afternoon slots. Of course, G must occupy Tuesday afternoon (rule 1), and hence by rule 3, N must occupy Wed afternoon. So as a result, I is forced into Monday afternoon. So B is correct.

Question 3 took me a second to figure out also. Here is how I resolved it: If Nina gives the report on Monday, Helen must give her report on Tuesday. If Nina gives the report on Tuesday, Helen must give her report on Wednesday. So, in order for these conditions not to apply, both Nina and Helen must give their report on the same day, Wednesday.
