Curve question, "what do tls ppl mean when they say..."

What do they mean when they say "curve will be -x." What does that exactly refer to. I obv get that the lsat is curved (well precurved but meh) what does the -x refer to?

I believe that the curve refers to how many wrong answers result in a score of 170 on that particular LSAT test date. Thus, -10 means that anybody getting 10 wrong on that administration of the LSAT earned a score of 170. A higher number, such as -12, indicates a harder test versus a -9, for example.

Interestingly, as incompetentia pointed out in another thread, two -10 curves might not be the same. Although they both give -10 a 170, they might require different scores for 175, for example.
