If you're taking in February for the first time, you should start studying now. Leave it till later and you'll find yourself regretting it come test day.
Also, if you're applying this cycle, I strongly recommend taking in December rather than February.

Oct: 162
Previous: PT avg: 165. Range of 159-172.
Goal: 170.
Plan:
Do the LR and RC bibles, redo LG bible.
I've only taken 2 of the most recent 20 PTs, so I'm going to take those starting after thanksgiving. In the meantime, finish the bibles, review and finish some older tests, drill LR and LG 'til they sink in.
My goal for prep is to start hitting consistently in the 170s. Also, I need to perfect LG. I tend to miss 5-7 per section and it kills my score.

When are you going to start prep: Started in August
Course/Self-Study: Knewton course, Self-study with PS/Atlas books, Tutoring if needed
Books: Atlas
Method: 2 PrepTests a week. Work on one section each day of post-test review (incidentally, there are 3). Redo wrong questions and write out explanations. Do some extra practice drills.
Goal Score: 175
Current PT range: last two 160 (37), 159 (38)
BTW first time taker, was originally scheduled for December but pulled the trigger on postponing. My weakest points are time on RC and LG, I have yet to finish either one of those sections on a PT. I'm within acceptable range for LR although I'd like to get it to -3 or so combined to give me maximum room to get questions wrong on RC. -3 LR, perfect LG and -8 RC is still a -11 and a 170 most of the time. I just want a score with a 7 in the tens place. If I get that, I'm done for good.
My best performances so far have been: -5 LG (37), -5 excluding 3 misbubbles LR (38), -7 RC (37 I think). If law schools "superscored" like in college I'd have a score in the upper 160s lol.
