Hello Everyone,
I was wondering how June LSAT takers are preparing for their goal scores. I'm hoping for a 170-174. I'm currently scoring 141. I'm reading a book on informal logic. And I need to improve on my logical games section. I love to hear how you plan to prepare. And share ideas on how to improve. Thanks.

Planning on taking it on June 9th. Starting the prep in Dec-Jan depending on when my classes start. Plan on mapping out a certain plan when my Fall quarter is done within a couple weeks. I'm aiming at the same range as you. Should be fun, I've never prepped like this for anything [except sports].

I am unsure. I do not want to to burn out and I hate to sound whiny about that, its just that I am a retaker already so its getting kind of old to have no life. I want to take a couple month's rest. Then, in Feb, just begin to work on my endurance and being really careful with my accuracy. I need to tie a few loose strings and be really honest with myself. I wasn't the first time I bombed. I looked at old posts where I estimated my PT scores to be higher than they really sure (sure, with the extended time I gave myself)

Wow, scoring a 141 and you want to improve 30+ points? Might be overshooting a little bit. My initial was a 149, I took the test again after a week of studying and got a 157. Has anybody been studying/started studying for June 2011 yet? I have been but pretty sporadically. What's the burnout timeframe? Plateaus for anybody on sections/subjects?

Marinelaw - I'm not sure if my experiences will help but here's the long version of it.
A little background
I am not sure whether I'm taking the Feb or June LSAT because a lot of TLS users recommend taking the June one instead. However, I want to apply ED so I can't wait until the October one. In case something happens and I can't take the Feb test, at least I will have the June one as a backup. I took the October 9th LSAT and cancelled because I knew that I wouldn't reach my 170 goal. It didn't help that I choked on the last section because I just hadn't built up my LSAT stamina. I was so drained and I couldn't focus. I am hoping to gain around 10 points from what I was PTing at a few weeks ago.
Regarding studying - To be honest, I think I kind of burned out towards the end because I was cramming too many hours into a day focusing just on studying. I started studying mid-August but I didn't take it too seriously. I did maybe an hour or two a day and read through the Bibles. Starting September I dedicated literally ALL DAY and by the end of the month I just couldn't handle it anymore and stopped studying the last two weeks. For people taking it in Feb, I definitely recommend doing at least 3 hours a day three or four days a week starting now and then maybe picking it up in Dec/Jan so you won't burn out. Even if you have the time, don't push the "hard core studying" until the last month like I did even if you have nothing else planned.

I am taking it in June as well. I started studying on Labor Day. I have broken up the Bibles into small bites of 5-10 pages a day. I should make it through all of them by the end of the year. I will then take timed sections and move to full practice tests in the spring. My diagnostic was 147 before I started studying. I am a splitter too so earning a high score is important. I will take a diagnostic again after I finish the Bibles and see where I stand. I think it is really important to take regular breaks to avoid burnout. But I think the most important thing is to stay motivated and celebrate the small victories along the way.

My diagnostic was a 141. 7 weeks later (today) I got a 160. I think hitting a 170 is possible, especially if aiming for June. You have all the time in the world, so much of the LSAT is just pattern recognition of the test and being critical of the patterns that you are subject to (ie: repeat mistakes). Jumps from the 140s to the 170s are not impossible, especially with proper studying a sufficient time.

I'm actually a February taker but I'll probably be here on March 8th, so I'll shoot.
Diagnostic 155, shooting for 175, DNR @ 170. In the beginning stages of taking PrepTests along with an online course. Take 2 prepTests a week until a week before the test with drills and reivew, take it easy on the week of with just the December 2010. Right now, scoring in the mid 160's on 45 minute tests, so moving on to 30 minute sections. Putting in 3 hours a day at home and 3 hours at work on weekdays, 4-5 on weekends.
