Need advice on RC Detail q's on dense passages

I am trying to improve efficiency on detail q's in dense passages.
Currently I summarize the main idea of each paragraph, and box keywords, underline author voice, etc. On easier passages, this makes detail questions relatively easy because I know right where to look.
But on some dense passages (specifically US Steel Industry - integrated producers v mini mills, v specialty ) where several entities are compared/contrasted, I am taking too long eliminating incorrect choices.
Kaplan says try creating a lists before attacking q's, but I also find that time consuming.
Any pointers?
