Whats the usual score difference between someone's average PTs before the LSAT and their actual test score?

What do you guys attribute this difference (if any) to?

When I took the LSAT's my difference was approximately 3-4 points lower. Keep in mind though that I have standardized test anxiety (which is pretty normal for many of us).

Most of the other students I know scored 2-4 points lower on their actual LSAT's.

Thanks, is that lower that your average or highest PT score?

i scored 1 point higher than my PT average.

It seems from reading TLS that you can reasonably expect a 2-3 point drop. However, clearly not everyone has that drop, or else the scores in the high range wouldn't exist. If you prepare extremely well and don't suffer test anxiety, you have hope of scoring at your PT average in my opinion.

Any evidence is anecdotal at best. In reality, it's going to come down mainly to how much you get test axiety, your mood that day, and the testing center. I am not sure if it's a safe assumption to think that the majority lose some points, but that seems to be the general feeling from most people. That being said, it is not uncommon to score at your above your average.

I am an example of this. Some luck was probably involved but the highest I scored on any PT was 171 (twice) and ended up with a 173 in june. I think it depends a lot on the individual test.

Aside from the obvious things like being nervous on test day or being in a crappy test center, it really just comes down to the test. That shouldn't be surprising though... nobody PT's the same score like 5 times in a row. There's going to be some difference. I think a lot of people see that difference (a harder reading section for example) and then make a big deal out of it and freak out, rather than just treating it for what it is: a different test.

Take enough PT's and you should be able to score at or above your PT's come test day, providing you take a day or two rest before the test and approach it with 100% energy and focus.

Did you ever stop to think that you're responding to a comment from 2010 and that poster likely isn't here any more?
