Can I just skip around the LG bible doing different sets of games?
Is there something to be learned from chapter 1 that I have to know before I can do, say, chapter 7 or
linear before distribution?

Some of the diagramming techniques in chapter 1 are going to come up in later chapters, but they aren't too hard to figure out. I think you would be find selecting sections that correspond with game types you are bad at if you are extremely confident in your abilities on some of the sections.
