Diagramming can sometimes be difficult; would a viable alternative such as mentally making deductions be just as helpful as a diagram? Or is it simply a matter of preference and what method one feels comfortable with the most?

Anyone who can do the logic games in his head, quickly and accurately, is a certified genius in my book.

OP, do you mean reading the game and rules once and then just memorizing that? If so, then the only people who'd be more comfortable doing that instead of diagramming are people with IQs of like 150. If you mean going back during every question to read the rules again, then that will likely take more time than diagramming. Diagramming the game and rules is what everyone does for a reason: 1) diagramming it out makes it way easier to remember some rules, 2) those rules you don't remember perfectly will stand out concisely.
