How effective are timed sections...?

How effective are timed sections for measuring your improvement/performance on the LSAT (at least compared to full-length PTs)? Would you consider a PT score put together by 4 separately but strictly timed sections a legitimate score or would you subtract a few points?

It depends on the person. Ask yourself honestly if the fatigue of doing a full test's worth of sections consecutively adds significantly to the challenge.

For some people it does. For me, I don't believe that I experience significant fatigue by doing sections back to back, and I don't feel much difference whether I do them back to back, or separately.

I've done a lot of timed LG sections on their own.

Depends. If you have already been exposed to 4/5 section timed PTs, then it wouldnt be too bad. I remember when I took Sep09 LSAT, I had taken MAYBE 1 full 4 section PT. It definitely effected me on test day. Once you get used to slamming through PTs though I think timed sections can be helpful if you approach them the same way as you would test day.
