Prep Test 34 Section 2 # 14

Some people claim that every human discovery or invention is an instance of self expression. But what they seem to ignore is that, trivially, anything we do is self expressive. So, until they can give us a more interesting interpretation of their claim, we are not obliged to take their claim seriously.

a. All claims that are trivial are uninteresting.
b. Most people do not take trivial claims seriously
c. No claims that are trivial are worhty of serious consideration (correct answer)
d Every claim is open to both interesting and uninteresting interpretations
e. Every interpretation is either trivial or uninteresting.

I chose B, and I am confused as to why the answer is C because isn't the language to strong for the stimulus with the word "No" in the beginning of answer?

You shouldn't post questions. but...

a strengthen can help a little or prove the conclusion 100%. c says if trivial ------> not worthy of consideration

so if c is true the premises would prove that the conclusion must follow.

^ Also you answer a strengthening question with a logic fallacy, appeal to public opinion. B
