Careless errors frustrate the hell out of me. What is the best way to reduce the amount of careless errors?

I reduced my careless errors by about 3 just by slowing down a little. I don't know if it's your problem but I try to read fast as possible in the LR sections, and that bites me in the ass.

yea I def do that too...I'll try to make sure I have plenty of time for the tougher questions so I try to breeze through the easier ones. I probably wouldn't have realized it until I read your post though. Thanks!

my advise is to do the PTs without a time limit... do the questions as slowly as you need... you start noticing the kind of careless errors that you tend to make... and the kind of questions that you tend to misread... after 7-8 PTs, try a timed one and even though you are limiting the amount of time, you start to make fewer careless errors... this worked for me

I improved a lot by paying attention to the specific errors and then consciously avoiding them in the future. Like one time I was looking at the wrong paragraph in a RC question, so after that I was extra careful to count the paragraphs. After a while you've made most of the possible dumb mistakes and know how to avoid them.

The credited response seems to be slow down enough to where you fully understand what you're reading. A careful analysis in te stimulus can help tremendously and so does prephrasing because let's admit it the more one does lr the more one sees the pattern that the kind of LSAT answer would have. HTH

Yah... when I looked over the few questions I missed on my real LSAT... at least 2 of them were because of careless errors... I always finished every section with a bout 5-8min left so really I shouldve slowed down

I circled the EXCEPT and the word in the stem that told what type of question, it didn't take anymore time really and made sure I didn't miss something in the stem. I found it helped a lot.

get through the first 10-15 questionns in under ten minutes. This will leave you plenty of time for the more difficult questions. The key is to slow down mentally without slowing down in actuality.

A lot of my careless errors are systematic-- borne of bad habits and regular overlooks.

I've kept a notebook of these errors and their likely remedies. I'd review the notes from time to time for reminders as to not fuck up. The idea is that with time, ingrained practice would replace regular carelessness.

Honestly? I tried to relax as much as I could. I found that whenever I was more nervous, I tended to overthink things and change answers when they were right already.

Also, when reviewing physically writing down the reasoning behind the right answer / why I got it wrong helped a lot.

Maybe you already do, but I found working out helped me improve my focus. Strong body, strong mind kind of a deal. It's all about focus though.
