Does anyone on here know what internet relay chat is? I think it would be useful if we had a place to go where we could discuss problems real time and where we wouldn't be cluttering this board with questions that are too specific.

It's really easy to get started if there are enough people interested...

I'm definitely interested. If we can get a room going, it'll be a nice place to visit to relax from studying, while still keeping our brain stimulated.

Do you have to rent a server for that?

Is it textual or mic/voice interface?

so who is in charge around here? how do I get in contact with them to setup this and make it official

Well, I imagine that the closest the channel will get to 'official' is in name. At best, we can ask the admins to sticky this or another thread titled 'Official TLS IRC Channel' with a link to the channel and the IRC client.

Apparently, each user would have to pay $20.00.

IRC rooms are free, at least they used to be. Just create an original room heading, appoint a few moderators, and have at it.
