I'm "auditioning" to teach for Kaplan and I had a question for anyone who has worked there or went through the interview process!

-I took the actual test and scored a 165, but I've taken Kaplan-proctored LSATs at the 170 level so I was wondering if my score on the Kaplan proctored test would be acceptable to use in the interview process and everything or would they only look at my real LSAT or if it would even make a difference. I know you can "retake" any of the exams at the center and use that so I was wondering if a past one would work also?
-Also, any suggestions on what 5-minute presentation I could teach for this "audition" or advice/whatnot?

i teach for kaplan and I am pretty sure that 165 is good enough anyway, i think they have a 164 minimum score. If they are recruiting lsat at your center, they probably have a fairly immediate need for teachers so I would think it would be yours to lose. As an example, I prepped a five minute class on the 2-3-1 lacrosse offense and my interviewer admitted she was totally lost, but I still got the job cause they had the need for more lsat teachers. So, I guess what I am saying is keep it simple and make sure it is a topic that would be good for any and all audiences.

You would not be able to show them your 170 but you could take a Kaplan proctored test to score higher- probably unnecessary though.

I think a lot of people taking the Kaplan prep course would be ecstatic to get into the 160s. It's all relative.

I agree that they would be ecstatic to get in the 160's. My point is that I do not feel a teacher who scored in the 160's is the right person to get you there. I am taking a prep-course (company not named because I do not want to get accused of trolling) and my instructor scored a 178. I feel this instructor knows the ins and outs far better than a 165 scorer.

There are a FEW teachers that can't score highly (like 175+) because they can't read fast enough, but know the ins and the outs of the test. However, I'd agree that a teacher probably don't understand some pretty key stuff if they can't break 170.
