I wish I could help you, but I'm pretty much in the same boat. I got a 171 and have a 3.28gpa. I was thinking about retaking because I know I could hit 173, I second guessed myself on a LG question and changed my answer as they were calling time to the wrong answer. I also was very nervous and only got 3/4 hours of sleep the night before. My worst fear is really botching the retake and ending up with a lower score. I think I'm just going to suck it up and ED to UVA in Sept, and hope for the best.

I would like a shot at a T15 school and I know my UGPA is holding me back. Do you think scoring say a 174 on another LSAT would increase my chances at acceptance enough to merit the risk and stress of taking the test again?

Thanks.
What range are you targeting? You will get into at least one t14 with a 170.
Yea, I would bet that Cornell will take you, and an ED to UVA in September will prob give you a good chance as well as ED Gtown PT

Not sure that I agree with this... I don't know that 170 is really a ticket into T14 anymore, especially with 3.3 GPA (maybe with 172/173).

no what?
I'd guess, "No, don't retake," given the thread title.

I think you should stay with a 170. It's a great score and you'll get into at least one T-14. From a 174 to 170 isn't bad as all, but if you really want it, then study more and retake it. Just make sure you take the path you'll least regret.

171, but a 3.25 ugpa in electrical engineering. aiming for a t14, but would be stoked with ucla.

Apply ED UVA on Sept 1 when they start accepting apps--you'll hear back by Sept 15. Then, assuming you want to go as high as possible, apply Mich ED or Gtown ED if your gut tells you that's more realistic and/or the school suits you better geographically. You'll likely get deferred at the UVA and Mich, but you'd have a strong chance getting in once they've looked through regular cycle. Gtown I'd think you'd get in ED from the beginning. However, if you really think you can do better, I see no reason not to take it again in October. Don't be too down about the 170 though, it's a great score.

If anything, worry about improving that GPA, that's what's ultimately holding you back, you could always apply next year. By senior year though, there's only so much you can raise it. Otherwise you should definitely retake.

Majority of people with his stats (or even worse gpas) got into a t14 last year with 170's. ED at UVA. Apply to Northwestern with your significant work experience. You'll get something around there more than likely.

You have a solid chance at UVA and NU because of your work experience. Pick one and apply ED. UVA has a really quick turn around, so if you apply early enough and get rejected you can always reapply to NU. But as far as the top 10 schools, you are pretty much locked out other than NU.

You'll have a good shot at UVa if you apply ED. I got in ED with a 3.3 170, one year WE, and an upward grade trend in UG. I also didn't apply until late January so if you apply in september i think you'll have a good chance.
