I'm in the camp that if i cancel i will probably do better than i think, but I have a dilemma. I got a 166 last June, if I cancel I will probably take the test in October, but I will be traveling for a year abroad in NZ starting in July and may not have ideal study conditions.

Is it better to hope for the best and take again if lower say 166, 160, 166+ or just a 166, cancel, c/166+

I think you'd rather have a cancel than a lower retake score...

What are you doing in NZ? Should be an amazing year.

I'm taking a year off between ugrad and law school, I have a work visa so probably doing odd jobs here and there and traveling around.

I guess I'm just trying to judge if i did as badly as I think i did when I left the test around -20, or if its closer to -14-16, and if the curve will be generous. I didn't plan to study in my travels but I definitely feel I can get a 168+.

I can't tell you what to do here, but one score cancellation will not raise any eyebrows. Tons of people have test day cancellations simply due to the fact that they missed the test date change deadline and decided not to be absent (meaning they showed up planning to cancel, took it just because they missed the date change deadline, then canceled).

Take at least a few days to decide before making any decision. You have 6 calendar days from the test date to cancel.
